A conversation I had with Kristin (who does the Gods and Monsters book club locally) recently:
Kristin: So for January, I was thinking of doing Book A.
Me: Great! I have that on my shelves but haven't read it yet.
Kristin: Then in February, Book B.
Me: Perfect! I've always meant to read that. I'm pretty sure I have a copy.
Kristin: For March, April and May, Books C, D and E.
Me: Awesome! Those have been on the TBR for far too long.
Kristin: Then in June, Book F.
Me: Excellent! It's about time I pulled that one off the shelf.
Yes, this conversation went on longer than what I've typed here.
Methinks CB must have a TBR Dare again this winter. Between him and Kristin, maybe I could actually make a dent.
Expect to see postings about the TBR Double Dog Dare sometime in early November. ;-)

I'm pretty sure James is already planning his TBR Dare III, but it sounds like you may need to supplement with a 12 step program ;-) I'm in for sure.

Oh dear, you have it bad! I find myself reading a 1200 page tome this month because there's a readalong and I looked up from the announcement to see my copy of the book languishing on my bookshelf... Maybe there needs to be a TBR Anonymous?

Alex, TBR Anonymous! I could be a founding member with you! Join us, JoAnn?
CB, whew. Obviously I will need to sign up again.

We don't do TBR Anonymous till our lives become unmanageable and we hit bottom. So while we're all problem-book-buyers, I think we're still OK!
For the record, here are the books I'm considering for the discussion group Amy mentioned: Blue Flower by Penelope Fitzgerald, Intuitionist or Zone One or John Henry Days by Colson Whitehead, Cloister Walk by Kathleen Norris, Moviegoer by Walker Percy, Buddha by Karen Armstrong, Canticle for Leibowitz by Walter Miller, Brothers Karamazov by Dostoevsky, Kindred by Octavia Butler, The Leftovers by Tom Perotta, and Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte.
